Craig,
I use DownloaderPro from BreezeSystems (the guys from the
BreezeBrowser) and it really helps managing the files. I use a folder
system, with meaningful names for the folder, but keeping filenames as
taken by the camera (CRW_xxxx.CRW). The Downloader will breakup the
annoying canonXXX/ folders on the card and put all images on the
specified folder. It saves me a lot of time.
It's not flawless of course, as sometimes I leave images from another
event in the card and then they get into the wrong named folder. There
is where the nice "Split Folder" option of Google's Picasa saves the
day :-)
These two tools have speeded up my workflow a lot.
