One of my CF cards produced a single unreadable raw file on two different downloads. I was suspicious of it, but it seemed to be working in general. Over the weekend, however, the card became completely unusuable. Any attempts to download caused my mac to think I ejected and reinserted the card. I swapped to using an old CF card reader that I bought back in 2000, and I was able to salvage all my images.
I mailed Lexar about this, since it has a nice warranty. They told me to format under Windows, then format it in my camera and see what happens. I formatted it under disk utility in MacOS instead, but otherwise did what they said. I then took a bunch of pictures to see if I got an unusable image again, but I couldn't. Next I filled the card up with data and then did two comparisions of the data against the original data, and I never got a single error. So now I'm in a quandry. I don't really want to trust the card, but I'm not sure I can pester Lexar into giving me a new one. Anyone have an good advice here? Since I haven't mentioned anything EOS yet, I should. My 5D rolled over (from 9999 to 0001). Since the shutter is rated for 100,000 actuations, that means that I've used up 10% of my 5D. -- void *(*(*schlake(void *))[])(void *); * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
