The x-ray machines for carry-on luggage will not do any harm to your digital
camera, storage media, etc. Even film is no big issue unless you use
high-speed film and/or you will have scanned it many times and/or you travel
in some countries that might use higher dosages (not sure about that).

The CT scanners used for check-in luggage can destroy your film visibly.
Depending on how the film gets hit it might not be even across frames. But
again your digital camera, storage devices, etc will be fine. I have had my
digital camera, video camera, iPod, etc. scanned many times by the x-ray
machines for carry-on luggage as well as industrial CT scanners. No problem
at all.

Rob
