I photograph weddings and portraits (40 yrs now), just a little bit of who
and what I am and do. Anyway I was doing a wedding assignment this weekend
(shooting with the 20D and 1Ds). The 20 started beautifully (had worked fine
all week-various other assignments), then it just did not record two images.
I turned it off and on and if worked fine. Then as I was about to photograph
a flower girl I got an Error 99 (had seen this a time or two during the
week) so I usually just turn off the camera and turn it back on and this
will go away. Not this time-off with the ProT flip bracket and out with the
batteries for a full 30 seconds- before the beast would work again. So I
left the flip bracket off for the rest of the assignment, only two other
times did it not record and image, one time the camera keep saying it was
busy and would not function- turned it off and back on and all was fine-
even kept the image that was last shot. Had one more Error 99 for the
evening. Needless to say it is on it's way to CPS for a look over. All the
images I made at this event are fine (no images that would not open- checked
all 675 of them before my head went to the pillow). I've heard some others
ask about Error 99-I must say this is the only time I've had this crazy a
time with the 20, had it happen 2 or 3 times with a 10 (in two yrs) and only
once or twice with the 1Ds in 2 yrs. What is the story and should I expect
the same thing with the 30D that is on order.
Cheers Wilber
