Well obviously you forgot to put them in a helium filled chamber! Or at least
a nitrogen filled one.

There is hope, I have heard that stone tablets last a long time if kept out of
the wind and water and damp moldy places, where mold or moss can't grow.
Preferable out in a desert some place.
