Having only used a G2 up to now, which doesn't put any speed demand on
a CF card, what are your recommendations for what card to get for the
30D? I'm not familiar with the hi-speed cards. Initially I won't be
doing all that much burst shooting, but eventually, once I get some
longer EF glass, this camera is going to take its place alongside my
film cameras for bird shooting, and I want to be able to use the 5 fps
burst rate. What kind of CF card do I need to get to accommodate that?

I have been using SanDisk 1G Ultra II in my 20D. They come with a
Limited Lifetine Warranty except for Europe (?).
Costco has them for about $60US and if you get one and wait they often
have coupons. The last one I bought was $50US
Here is their web site

Enjoy your 30D I fought the digital thing for quite a while but now I
enjoy many ofthe aspects of digital photography. I still miss dropping
off a roll of film and sitting back with a glass of something while
looking the prints over. But I'm getting used to more time at the PC
when I get home from my computer fixing job.......
