Yes, I've certainly had this experience too. I'm not convinced that
the difference was so much in color temperature, or anything that
would be pronouncedly influenced by WB, but as you say, it is
definitely worth some testing. The only EF or EF mount lenses I have
right now seem to be pretty similar in color rendition, but I'll test
them nonetheless. That's one of the things I love about photography
- you can find out for yourself!

You can probably devise a test to compare the color performance of
your lenses.
