I just wanted to share the happy news. I just placed an order for my first DSLR, an EOS 5D with grip. I've been shooting some with a friends 20D and I have to say I love the digital workflow. Unfortunately, I still haven't settled my lens kit overhaul questions. That'll get done in the next few weeks (I hope).
