E-TTL(II) uses the evaluative exposure circuits of the camera to
determine the exposure. E-TTL-II takes also distance information (if
available) into account.

Hi Gerard,

According to Canon E-TTL also took distance information into account
they just did not advertise that fact. The main benefot of E-TTL II is
tha it eliminates under exposure that can occur with straight
reflections from the subject.
