>From some recent experience shooting RAW files, which is suppose to allow 2
stops of over or under exposure and recover from it using Canon's DPP
software, I am wondering if given the choice, would it be better to be over
or under expose?

Some of the shots I took were over exposed in some very light colour areas,
and I was not able to recover these areas entirely, at the same time it
seems to be "easier" to get more details out of underexposed area in
Photoshop than overexposed area.

I'm curious if given the option, would I be better off error on the
underexposure side on a DSLR? Or is there any particular trait on the Canon
DSLR in this respect?

Note that while I strive to get the right exposure, in this particular shoot
the circumstance is very difficult to change exposure based on quickly
changing lighting condition within a very short time, perhaps I should be
using shutter or aperture priority mode the next time........
