My dilemma is that my 1D Mk 2 names the files in the XXXXnnnn.jpg format
(where X denotes an alphabetic character and n denotes a numeric
character), which I then keep unchanged for future reference, but one of
the group I must provide the large quantity of files to insists on
adding certain identifier to the file name but retain the numeric
portion, i.e. they want the final file name to be YYYYnnnn.jpg, or I
suppose the file name can also be YYYY_XXXXnnnn.jpg.

Try this:
Rename-It! <http://www.beroux.com/renameit/>
Replace a string by another. Support Regular expressions and Wildcards. Crop: Only keeps a part of the file name.

Topy
