My feeling is that the focus is so critical with the MPE 65mil (I have
one) that you have to be absolutely spot on to get a result. I wouldn't
have though the thickness of flesh on a child's arm is translucent
enough to permit a necessary amount of light for a decent exposure.

However, if you focussed on the entry point, you should be able to
photograph that i would have thought - though maybe more like 4X or so?
You can borrow my ring light if you like ;-)
