Cheers,

Thanks Cotty.
A useful reference. In practice, and over several thousand shots in the
last year, with my 5D, I've only observed the light fall-off when doing
tests specifically looking for it. The effect seems totally absent (!)
when I check out my 17-35 EX HSM Sigma (original model). Don't know why -
the AF motor on the Sigma has failed so my usable widest is the EF 20 f2.8,
which can be horrific at f2.8 on some shots, and less so on others.
My current gripe with my 5D is that the central AF spot is ever so slightly
lower than the rectangle marker in the viewfinder. Has lead to quite a few
out of focus shots (similar to front focusing, which it isn't) of small
birds against near glancing angle backgrounds such as paths etc.
