Doesn't infinity on a lens vary ever so slightly with temperature variation? I believe that is why focus adjustment is allowed to go past infinity mark. Why not just take a few test shots and vary the focusing slightly between shots and take notes of the focus setting near the far end, then use the one setting that works the best? > I also noticed that the 400D stores the focus distance in the > EXIF metadata > - does anyone know if it's possible to get that info up on the > display while > shooting? > Wow, 400D is a brand new camera, a firmware hack like this, even if possible, will take some smart people to figure out how to get to the firmware, reverse compile it, then figure out how to patch in this capability, i.e. don't hold your breathe!
