Hi,
I've been doing some experiments in astrophotography with my 400D and both the EF-S 18-55 kit lens and my EF 90-300 USM. Problem is, neither lens has a focus gauge, so it's hard to get the lens focussed at infinity properly - most of the photos I take end up with unfocussed round blobs instead of pin-sharp stars. I noticed that the EOS FAQ says some lenses can focus past infinity (see http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/lenses.html) - does this apply to the newer EF and EF-S lenses too?

I also noticed that the 400D stores the focus distance in the EXIF metadata - does anyone know if it's possible to get that info up on the display while shooting?

Thanks.
