AFAIK, it's more because the image-unit is so small.
Which inspired quite a few people to build their own beamer, based on
an old, much larger/higher-resolution, TFT-screen, and power it by a
dirt-cheap automotive HID-bulb.....it's just that you should forget
about the criterium 'compact' immediately, given the size of the
screen....;))
(and you need projection lenses with an image size/circle that is
beyond most modern optics, not to mention the condensors if you want
to do it right (instead of fresnel lenses))
Definitely not for the faint of heart....
