One thing that always makes me smile is that as an amateur photographer, I don't have to justify cost on anything I buy. I can either afford it or I can't. If I can, and I want it, chances are I'm there. Part of the pleasure (for me) of stills photography is using the kit to get good shots. If that means SHINY (as SchlakeVoid says) then that means SHINY :-)
However, when SchlakeVoid writes: >If it comes down to "need", I don't need a camera at all. I often feel >sad for people who do photography as a business instead of a hobby. >Work isn't supposed to be fun, no matter how much you enjoy your job. I have to disagree. My work is great fun - it's also one of my hobbies. Viz: I'm a TV cameraman by trade and it would make more sense to get all my kit in a nice Merc van or whatever, but I choose a Land Rover and put hundreds of miles on a week with a smile on my chops. I saw Eric Bibb a couple of years ago and he had a dozen guitars with him on stage. He browsed his collection and picked one out, saying 'Ah think ah'll have this one"....and with a toothy grin added, "Because I can....." -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
