Subject: EOS 300mm f/2.8 IS L

So I have a 300mm f/2.8 IS L now. I'm dissappointed that the tripod
collar doesn't seem to have a notch for easying positioning into
verticle and horizontal shooting.
After playing with my 600mm f/4 IS L so much the 300mm is unnaturally
small. Though the jump up from the 200mm f/2.8 L is pretty dramatic.
I haven't actually attached it to a camera yet.

Hi,

I put my 300 f2.8L in for service recently and I was told that it was too old to be serviced. When it came back (at no charge except for return carriage) it had much better AF accuracy, but with the horizontal & vertical detents moved round by about 30deg. When I mentioned this, I was told that they hadn't opened the lens! So I just put up with the situation and don't use the detents!
