I shoot photos of ballroom dance shows as if it were a sporting event-- available light (usually afternoon window light), fast lens (50/f1.4), multi-shot sequences, auto-focus, with a Canon 20D body. ( I don't use flash because one can never pick the exact moment correctly, even if one knows the choreography.) Focus is set on Servo-AI. A single focusing point is usually set, so that the camera does not focus on the background behind or between the dancers. I first tended to pick the center point , but then gravitated to the point above and to the right of center. This seemed most likely to get the right hand partner in horizontal shots, or the left hand partner in vertical shots (most of the shots are vertical), and did not frequently focus in between shots.
However, sometimes the 20D would follow-focus well, and other times it did poorly. This seemed to be the opinion of other posters on the Web with similar questions. That it may be a limitation of the 20D's Servo-AI abilities. How do the newer consumer and pro-sumer bodies compare with respect to Servo-AI function, specifically: EOS Rebel XTi, EOS 30D, EOS 5D, and any others to be considered.? Are any significantly better than the 20D? Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------- This mailbox protected from junk email by MailFrontier Desktop from MailFrontier, Inc. http://info.mailfrontier.com * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
