Hi Gerard,

I've seen that in a few people, so I take several shots in succession of the
same image. This way there will be some with and some without eyelids shut.
If this is consistent and her eyes are always closed even with multiple images
taken, on a Canon 550EX or 580EX you can set change E-TTL to A-TTL, the
previous method Canon used for flash exposure. This will only use one flash (no
pre-flash) and it is just as accurate in portraiture.

Subject: EOS ETTL Flash Eye Allergy?

EOS'ers...

Has somebody experienced a repeated autonomous reaction of a model
half-closing the eyes when using E-TTL? I had a recent shoot where
the model had an eye half-open with almost every flash burst. Under
daylight her eyes are always nicely symmetrically open.
I've the impression to have read a similar experience on the list a
few years ago. Is there some documentation on that? Is it due to a
reaction to the E-TTL pre-flash?

Are there ways to help that from happening? (other than not using flash ;-)

-thanks for the info...

greetz, Gerard.
