Hi all,

Last week I was doing some night photography with my EOS-1D Mark II,
70-200/2.8L IS and Manfrotto tripod. All went well for about 50 shots, until
I changed subject. Then my camera readings told me 800 ISO, 30 second
shutter speed and f2.8 apperture for the right exposure, so this is how I
set my camera (via Tv mode), with no over- or under exposure. After the shot
the display showed an extremely underexposed image, and the on-screen
readings showed me that the shot was taken with f22 instead of f2.8.
Thinking I had made the mistake myself I checked and changed the settings a
bit but got two sessions of four or five extremely under exposed shots in a
row. For the last shot I even asked my friend to check my camera and
settings, at the same result.

Then I changed from Tv to Av mode and set it to expose at f2.8. This time it
was spot on......

So the first 50 shots in Tv were fine (as they always are in night
photography), and even in between the two faulty sessions the camera worked
fine on another subject. How is it possible that the camera shows to be
using f2.8, before I actuate the shutter, while afterwards the shots show
f22 has been used ? Does anyone have any idea what could have caused the
camera to hick-up ?

Curious regards,
