Gerry, I think you'll have no problems with any of the Canon batteries
whether BP-511 or BP-511a or any of the generics. One battery that you can
NOT use in the 10D is the BP-514 because it doesn't have the ridge on its'
back between the two internal cells. It will fit fine in the later cameras
(20d/30d/40d/5d) but not in the 10D.

Subject: EOS BP511 and BP511a?

What is the difference between the BP551 and BP511A
battery? Is it OK to use a BP511 in a 40 D, 30D, etc.
And can the 511a be used in older 10D?

On another note, do any of the group use non Canon
batteries in their EOS gear? Any recommendations or
companies to stay away from?

Thank you,

Gerry
