On 11/09/07, Javier Perez, discombobulated, unleashed:

Hold on boy!

The 1Ds mark II has **both** CF and SD slots. The idea (I believe) is to
give flexibility with storage media. And I suppose to hedge bets from
Canon as to which way the future of said storage media heads in
professional fields. As it happens, CF is still the preferred method for
many industries - not just digital photography - despite your concerns
over bent pins. I'm no solid state geek but as i understand it CF is
better for various reasons I have yet to be enlightened upon, or indeed
have already been enlightened upon but have forgotten about due to a
combination of age and alcohol, hic.

Just because things are cheaper, does that make them better? In my
experience, the inverse is true. But as my wife often says, if we were
all the same, the world would be a boring place.

Anyway, as for cost, a camera costs what it costs. You pays your money
and takes your choice. All purchases are relative. You wouldn't pay more
than 1200 (sheckels? rupees? yen?) for a 1Ds and that's fair enough. The
last camera I bought cost nearly 10,000 GBP but that's a broadcast video
camera and needs must. I won't tell you how much the lens cost. My point
is, we all have limits, imposed or by choice. You wouldn't pay more than
1200, but the bloke down the road wouldn't pay more that 120. If I had
the spare cash, I'd love a Leica M8 and a pair of lenses, and I'd pay it
- *if* I had the money.

I'm slurring my werds so time to sign off.

Best wishes,

Off.
