Hello... Apparently there was a mix-up with different versions of glew. I have glew-1.5.2 installed on my linux machine but glew-1.5.8 was also built when compiling equalizer and although ldd was showing me that the binaries where linked with glew-1.5.2 there was obviously something wrong.
I did a make clean on equalizer's glew version and now everything works as supposed.. Thanks for all the help and your time!
