There's a CHANGES.txt file in docs, i.e.
/usr/share/Equalizer/doc/CHANGES.txt on Ubuntu. It lists the changes.
Armed with a changelist, doxygen pages or header files, and example code
you can migrate without problems.
Upgrading from 1.0 to 1.6 took me a few hours the first time i did it.
