Kevin,
I really do not know exactly what a "standard" coupe brake setup is like.  "Honey" is the first and only coupe I have ever touched.  (I have read about, looked at, ooed, awed, drooled over and dreamed about coupes for over 55 years.  I always kept my hands in my pockets and my dreams in my head until Jack Compere indicated he would trust me with the care and feeding of his 3047H and my wife, Bev, told me it was time to just DO IT!)  I also do not know exactly what a "kickboard" is or does.
When I stretch my legs out in the coupe, the soles of my feet are against the upholstery of the firewall.  The floor is as flat as Twiggy's chest.
I have already sent a copy of the 337 for the Piper brake mod to Mitch Hines at the EOC web site.  Hopefully you can access it shortly at www.ercoupe.org, This being a legal holiday weekend there will be a delay in the post office delivery.  If you need to see it right away, call me at the number listed in my earlier post.

Bob,

What does it do that the standard Ercoupe hand brake doesn’t do? Is your kick board removed so that you have even more leg room then a non-rudder pedal coupe? I have rudder pedals so I would have to leave the kick panel in but I can’t use the foot bake and only use the hand brake. I don’t have a problem with operating in that set up but the Piper brake sounds like it could be a better idea. The rudder pedals make it a pain to work on the brakes and the monkey motion to operate it is not the best for every day use.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,
The "Piper brake" is mounted under the dash.  It is a short handle that operates the hydraulic brakes and is the parking brake also..
I bought my Coupe from a fine 82 year old gent who had polio when he was a teenager.  Jack could not use his legs so he had the foot pedals and the floor brake removed from 3047H and installed the Piper brake which is operated with your hand.
There is nothing on the floor but the carpet.  The Piper brake works so well that I am leaving it on 3047H.  When "Honey" takes me anywhere I am really able to kick back and stretch my legs out and just have fun COUPIN'. :)

What is a Piper brake?  Doesn?t everyone already have the Ercoupe hand brake already?
