JP: If you look closely at the front, side window channel, just below
the side rail, you should see a blind nut riveted to the window channel. Or, if
they have been removed, you will see a couple small holes where the blind nut
used to be riveted to the window channel. Originally, these blind nuts had
screws with thumb/finger knobs on them so you could turn the screw. On the
inside of the window channel, between the channel and the window welt was a
small piece of metal that the screw turned against. Tightening the screw would
put pressure on the window in the welt, and help to hold it in position.
I have found that many of the Ercoupes have had
these thumb screws removed. They can be replaced by placing a blind nut in the
same position as the original, and then making a screw that will work. I believe
they were originally # 10 size threads/screws.
If you need more detail, let me know, and I will
try to help.
