Hi,
Regarding instruction in a coupe.
Each year I qualify for the FAA wings program instead of the BFR.  For the last 13 years I have used an instructor (under 170 lbs)  that has never flown in a coupe.
Instead of the instructor trying to show me how to fly my coupe, I give them the 3 hours. After 1 hour of take-offs and landings, 1 hour of air work, and 1 hour of instrument,  I can sign them off. This not only qualifies me for my wings but puts another instructor in the air with the ability to teach  or do a BFR for other coupers, and we need more of those. In all these years I have never had to pay an instructor for their services. Most will do anything for the privilege of  flying in an open cockpit.
They might even buy you lunch.
See you all at Minden,
Bill Coons  FAA Safety Counselor, Gt. Lakes Region.

The fellow buying the Alon has a total of 60 hours.  He’s moving from Miami to Atlanta.  Does anyone know of either an instructor in Atlanta familiar with ‘coupes, OR one in the Miami area with access to a coupe?

I didn’t get an orientation for squat when I bought mine, and aside from that am reluctant to “teach” anyone anything in an airplane.  It’s too easy to misdirect someone with low time.

Thanks,

Stephen, and indirectly Carlos.
