To all that are interested::

Any pilot with a minimum of 60 hours should not be released to the peculiaristic flight habits of the Ercoupe/Aircoupe without a qualified check pilot along for support!

That said:  I will elaborate:  With 60 hours and a private license I would imagine single aircraft experience, probably an airplane with flaps, or a stall warning horn, or even a visor imprinted check list.  There is no such thing as a high sink rate warning horn, and if you get too low, and too slow, you will undergo this exhilarating experience.

Also a 60 hour pilot who is seeking a time builder to complete the hours necessary for a license upgrade could choose no better a platform, but, know the intricacies!   Be checked out by a high time Ercoupe/Aircoupe pilot and get to know this airframe and it's habits.

I think a lot of people have been turned off by the Ercoupe/Aircoupe who inadvertently got the airplane into a predicament that has a predictable outcome that have only flown Cessna 150's all their time.  If you know what the airplane will do in unusual circumstances you can be extremely comfortable with it.  Knowledge is power, the old saying that "If you can drive a car you can fly an Ercoupe!"  is not valid in this day and time.  It is valid with the cars and airplanes of the 1930's  and of course the non litigant society of that time.
Follow the almighty slogan of the Boy Scouts of America!  "Be prepared!" Or is that the motto?

Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] ONE LAST QUESTION!!!

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

The fellow buying the Alon has a total of 60 hours.  He’s moving from Miami to Atlanta.  Does anyone know of either an instructor in Atlanta familiar with ‘coupes, OR one in the Miami area with access to a coupe?

I didn’t get an orientation for squat when I bought mine, and aside from that am reluctant to “teach” anyone anything in an airplane.  It’s too easy to misdirect someone with low time.

Thanks,

Stephen, and indirectly Carlos.
