Hi Larry; This list is surely fantastic. Many folks are fast becoming educated consumers and won't fall for those crazy claims that are made whether on purpose or by error. A 415CD has the mods of a D, but IIRC, does not have the elevator travel and gross weight increase. Since this (C to CD) is a factory mod, only a 337 (and log entry) is needed. As to the other question, if the aircraft's type certificate was never changed to read 415D, then the loophole is that an IA can recognize the full D mod as unairworthy, undo it and bring it back to official CD factory specs. There's your "Sportie". Remember before the Sport thing, the D (and above) models had the biggest demand due to the weight increase. Now, there seem to be less phony claims of a particular plane really being a "D" model even though it doesn't have the proper paperwork, and more people admitting that it's really a C or CD. Nice going. If you looked up the registration and it says "Sale Pending", then they've been notified of a transfer of ownership and the process hasn't been completed for any number of reasons, from stuck in the system, to more sale documentation needed. Yes, all those signs to be considered and if the registration was recently changed, why is the new owner flipping it so soon. When an owner makes these claims, best thing to do is to spend $5 and order the CD ROM and see for yourself. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Snyder" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Here's a good example of how paperwork can get all messed up. If the 415D mods were made without > notifying the FAA, isn't that illegal? I also noticed that the status > of ownership was in question (from the FAA) and that a registration was > pending. These are all warning signs, IMHO.
