Kent Tarver in Nevada has all the tooling rights for the Aeromatic and the Flottorp Props. I interviewed him not too long ago and wrote an article about him and the prop. He is dealing with the FAA Certification process to get the new stock approved for the blades. He claims that the Aeromatic is a very efficient prop, but it has to be adjusted to your particular plane by installation. You can't just move the prop from one Coupe to the other without readjustment. He also told me that quiet a few shops had no idea how the prop works. It is an invention similar to the Coupe's two control. Hard to grasp for the mediocre mind. However the prop looses efficiency in high altitude operations, where the engine can not produce enough rpms to keep the prop in a cruise setting, it falls back into a climb pitch, based on the lower rpm.( Man I hope I am right here.) For longer operation at high altitudes one needs to change some weights on the prop which you'd put back on when going low again. Kent can rebuilt your Aeromatic and adjust it to your plane. He reports that a well adjusted prop outperforms the fixed pitched. The only disadvantage is the extra weight of around 20-30 lbs. But since the blades are made from wood, it flies smoother.
