If the header is leaking you will know it
and smell it and feel it and if you are smoking not have to worry about it very
long. I saw a couple replies from Ed on the BRS. Did you not receive them?

again
----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Sometimes pilots find themselves with less fuel than they thought they had for the darndest of reasons. that's why I like the float on the front tank of the Ercoupe, it can't lie, unless it's full of water, but then your take off wouldn't work....like the time we hired a cessna float plane to fly us to the small islands off the end of Key West (I later flew my Lake there, myself) and the engine kept quiting on take off. turned out they'd fired a pilot the day before and he, in anger, had filled the tanks with 18 gallons of water!! or the commercial airline that landed in the Azores with no fuel because one tank had a leak and they kept transfering fuel to the leaking tank to keep the plane balanced!! or in my case, there were 6.8 gallons less in the tank than I thought (had they ever been put into the tank?) or what if the center coupe tank was leaking and the mains are drained into it and when you start to see the float descend it descends really quickly and you're over rough terrain at night? Time for the parachute (btw no body answered my question about outfitting the coupe with a chute). Or a fuel cap comes off (does its location create suction in a coupe?).
