My 2 cents worth on the subject of the BRS in an Ercoupe....

I've pondered this a bit myself, and came up with the idea that the best
BRS 
might be the surface-mount type, mounted on the turtledeck between the 
windows. In that location it wouldn't be directly in the slipstream, and 
might not add much to drag. That area would also likely need to be 
reinforced so that the rocket doesn't slam the base unit into the cabin. 
External mount would probably make the routing of the straps more sensible

as they would always be entirley outside the cabin.
