Hi All,
Sixteen emails in a row all on rudder or not to, must be close to a record.
Bought an ercoupe last fall, 415-D with peddels. Had 2+ hours with a pilot A & P with bunches of time in same ercoupe, (highly recommended for 1st time couper).
Yes, and the issue of why you need a CFI is not pedals/no-pedals. It is the diabolical
sink-rate and lack of ability to cope with elevator. You really MUST start out with too much
airspeed and figure out how little YOUR plane will tolerate, power on, and power off (latter
is about 5MPH less!!!) while still being able to flare.
Probably have 20 hours in it by now (Michigan weather) and have never once used rudders on final, always crab in and try to hit center.
I found that I was a lot more critical about the center-line than I had been with 172s, in the 'Coupe.
By being so, you tend to NAIL the crab-angle at the same time (if you're going for the center-line,
you can't be drifting, now can you?).
