When referring to the 196, it will NOT give terrain or obstacle information. I presume the OTHER brands mean the Anywhere unit. I tried it in several planes and it is almost impossible to use and see under even the most ideal conditions. The info about turn-by-turn directions is correct, but I use the 295 in the car, quite well, without this info. Anyway you cut it, color is great. The 295 is still my best choice for a primary unit. ----- Original Message ----- From: "RalphorMaria Finch" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Ercoupe Hangar Flying" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 9:57 AM Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] Re: GPS > ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- > > > I use the 295...I recommend you look at something > else, like Garmin's 196, or even other brands which > have terrain and obstacle information. > > The 295 is a nice unit, but: > > -it is not suitable for road use, because it does not > give turn-by-turn directions.
