Hi Folks, I am shocked and truly saddened by this terrible loss. I can't help but wonder what happened. I suppose we'll find that out eventually from the NTSB. I was fortunate to be present at the first "official" maiden flight of the H-1 at Wright's home airport of Cottage Grove Oregon. It was almost exactly a year ago. I had heard that there was a Stearman fly-in at Cottage Grove. I thought that it would be a fun weekend trip to drive up to visit my friend Bob Saville in nearby Eugene and enjoy ogling a bunch of shiny, colorful Stearmans. Then Bob started telling me about Wright's plane and how the maiden flight of the H-1 was scheduled for the same weekend, I knew that we just had to go. I read up on Jim Wright, his plane, and his tool company. The more I read, the more excited I got.
