This is not meant to be advice, just anecdotal
experience.
One day, during preflight I found my carb leaking. My AP
checked it and told me that probably the float was stuck. He advised me to tap
the carb with a heavy wood handle screwdriver.
A couple of times after that, I have found the carb
starts to leak when I open the fuel valve at the beginning of pre flight. I tap
it like my AP advised and it always stops leaking.
Legal disclaimer: If you try that, do so at your own
risk.
Hope this helps.
