I agree with Scott, I bought my Coupe six years ago with the idea of it becoming my next project. Got it really cheap as it had sat for 10 years at a small local airport. Then disassembled it down to the bare fuselage.. I am trying to return it to better than new condition. Not original in configuration but to my requirements but with everything overhauled. All new fasteners/ screws, hinges, hoses, tubing, fittings, bushings, engine overhaul, new upholstery, corrosion free, alodined and zinc chromated with newly recovered wings. Being realistic, I know that I will never get back my investment in time ( quality relaxation ) or money but it will be a great aircraft when I finish it hopefully next summer/fall. I have kept my love of flying alive by also buying a Cessna 150H that I will sell when the coupe is done.( senior pilots orders must be followed. She wants a Miata to fill the empty garage after the Coupe is back at the airport. ). When I bought the 150, I looked long and hard but could not find another Coupe that was in great condition. I looked at over 15 in four months and all were ' projects waiting for the right person to come along' and restore them. Waiting for the flack for owning a Cessna. :-)
