Driving to Oshkosh will take quite a bit of time from California; flying commercially is much faster. If you plan to rent a vehicle you want to reserve it as soon as possible, due to high demand. There are no commercial flights into Oshkosh. You'd have to fly into Green Bay, Appleton or Milwaukee and drive from there. I know of a good privately run parking area (actually it's a family's house and land) that is right across the street from the grounds. All my driving friends park there. Contact me if you are interested. As far as hours, the Show Plane area (Vintage, Ultralights, Homebuilts & Warbirds) never closes, so you can wander through any of those areas any time day or night. Most restaurants on the field are open at 6 am and don't close until 7 pm.

Folks, For those of us who don't have a plane to fly to Osh, do you think the event experience would be better by driving there or flying commercially and renting a car when I get there? What is the auto parking situation like? I imagine it's a nightmare but do you have any tips? If the day's events start at 9, would getting to the parking area at 7 or 8 get you a parking place that's not miles from the entrance? Thanks, Spook
