Thanks for your compliment, Bill! I agree with you completely: towered airports are way easier for me than uncontrolled ones! I have long hated landing at Corona, the uncontrolled airport in So.Cal. that had that fatal mid-air collision a couple of months back: it is as busy as a towered airport (busier than many towered airports around, due to relatively-low-priced fuel), and people are jumping into the pattern from all directions, plus many transiting the pass right nearby. There is also a row of mountainous terrain right where most people would come in on a 45, so it is extra-hard to spot them against terrain. My first time going in there alone, I unintentionally cut off another aircraft on final, but at least I turned out of there in time and apologized. But in the 18 months since I've been flying my 'Coupe, at 2 different uncontrolled airports, I've been cut off on final at least twice -- and by aircraft who didn't even bother replying on frequency when I broadcast that they'd just cut me off! One of those was flying a left-hand pattern, without communicating, at an airport where the AFD states the pattern should be right-hand! I sure appreciate a control tower's help -- and their radar!!
