Fred, It's my understanding that Canada does not recognize the Sport Pilot certificate and you would face a problem as PIC. About the only way I can think of to fly to Alaska if you are limited to Sport Pilot flying would be to fly with a Private Pilot as a companion. You could fly the plane but not as PIC in Canadian airspace.
