Hey Roger: Be cautious in your removal of the prop flange. I have heard that it is possible to bend/break the snap ring that holds the flange together, and then it is engine tear down time to get the pieces off. Use lots of penetrating oil prior to applying any removal torque. In fact, let the oil sit in place at least over night.
The 200 ft pounds of torque that Continental now recommends was added about 30 years ago. Originally, the manual said to use a bar and hit it a couple of times with a 2 pound brass hammer. It is a taper fit, so it does not require a lot of torque to stay in place and do the job. I have heard of some crankshafts being cracked after the 200 ft pounds was recommended by Continental.
I have not removed one myself, but I would certainly proceed with caution.
