Darwin.
Total time on my Coupe is roughly over 2000 hours, but like Ed B. said ,
that does not mean much. Most of
the play came due to the corroded and worn rod ends which go to the
ailerons. I think the flutter then
messed up the other two on the right side, plus the roller bearings. When
you ever experience flutter,
don't hesitate to fix it right away, it can only become more expensive
very quick.
I also replace the outer hinge on my last annual , because I could watch
the outer part of the aileron
flutter around. That did not do the real bad flutter , but was not nice to
watch.
The rod ends are actually indestructable when properly maintained, but
very much to my frustration I found
that the requiered lubriction of those rod ends happened only on paper, if
so .
I am more and more convinced that only the owner assisted annual is worth
to be called an annual inspection
(depending on owner).

If you find the play in the controls unsatisfacturary then check the rod
ends on the ailerons, the only
ones you can take out with the wings on and replace the rod ends if found
corroded, pitted or otherwise
worn.
