Hi,

A friend of mine asked me a question after we went flying in my coupe the
other day. He asked what size the engine was. It's a C-85 but I am
afraid to admit that I really don't know the cubic inch/liter size of the
engine. The cylinders look larger than the 2.0 liter air-cooled engine in
my old 72 VW camper which gets a thirsty 12.5 MPG or about 4.8 gph @ 60
mph. That's about the same rate as my coupe but it doesn't get me near as
far or with as much fun (well maybe as much fun when I first got the bus
in the early 70's if you know what I mean). I know probably all you smart
guys know the answer off the top of your head. I also want to mention how
much this newsgroup and you folks convinced me to buy an Ercoupe (Ron
Standings from Abbotsford, BC.). It's great fun to read the newsgroup
everyday and learn more and more about the coupes.

Thanks,

PS: A short while back I saw the discussion about window latches. The
screw in deal at the bottom of the window never worked very well for me
and I also worried about getting the windows down in a hurry. I came up
with a solution that works well for me. I took about a 4" piece of clear
1" diameter plastic hose (part of my siphon hose arrangement originally).
I split is length wise. It snaps right on to the two window tabs overhead
when the windows are up. It holds great and I can flip it on or off in an
instant if needed. I snap it on the metal bar that runs from the dash to
the roof to store it when I am not using it and its ready for the next
time.
