Good morning all, just a follow up on the CHT gauge from Wag Aero. The

This is one thing, list, you Must Be Aware of. CHT and EGT meters measure
wire resistance, which varies with with the heat.
To get an accurate measure, you measure the resistance of Both the
bi-metalic junction And the wire to the gage! Thus,
"A Patch" costs so much not just for the wire, but also for the
recalibration of the meter.

Hi Percy,

If CHT and EGT units measure wire resistance, why wouldn't the "standard"
lead be long enough to reach "number 4 jug without a patch"? 99% of
production will go on Continentals or Lycomings, and the coupe is NOT one
of the longer-nosed birds.

Some owners buy a selector switch and connect multiple probes to the same
gauge. It doesn't seem logical any manufacturer would not rush to correct
the situation if their "standard" leads were inadequate to such obvious
and intended purpose. All the probes have to have the same resistance for
the single gauge...right?

If you can't lengthen just one, it would seem Pete's (rhetorical) point on
(unnecessary extra) cost of installation remains valid.
