Fellow 'Coupers--

My 1946 415C (N99790) has a real problem with the fuel system.

99790 would be Serial No. 2413, which was originally equipped with
ternplate tanks. A single overflow line went from high on the back of the
fuselage tank to the right wing tank, which then was supposed to equalize
with the left tank via the balancing line between the fuselage tanks.
Replace- ment steel tanks of identical construction and plumbing were
manufactured and sold. A fuel tank gauge (on the right wing tank inside
the fuselage) was vented "by fitting on side of fuselage"

Ercoupes from Serial No. 2623 thru 3220 substituted a stainless steel
fuselage tank of "identical construction" except that the single overflow
line went from a standpipe connection in the bottom of the tank to a tee
in the balancing line between the fuselage tanks, which were now aluminum.
These tanks could also be installed to replace earlier ternplate wing
tanks with appropriate plumbing changes, and had a single, unvented fuel
gauge in the left tank (also inside the fuselage).

Ercoupes from Serial No. 3221 thru 3467 again had a single overflow line
from high on the back of the fuselage tank, but this now went to the left
wing tank, again to equalize with the left tank via the balancing line
between the fuselage tanks.
