Check your aircraft rigging....check to see the "ball" is centerd. If the coupe is flying in aeven a sdlight crab, then differential pressures will cause this kind of problem.....

I don't think that size of valve is the problem.... As long as the header tank doesn't overflow ( check restrictor in fuel pump, and return l;ine for being plugged.....and the engine gets sufficient fuel to run at full throttle; there is nothing wrong with the piping.

BUT, if even slightly flying sideways, then the differential pressure of a coupled system becomes a problem. I think that is why later Coupes had sealed wing tank caps, allowing venting only from the header tank. Sealed caps also helps to keep water out...
