Brett, a couple of questions for you- have you let your coupe sit for a while without flying it? If so, did you charge your battery, or are you depending on the airplane to charge it? If your battery is low, you get low wattage from your radio and you do get a static sound- and your main wire from the generator runs right behind the panel, to the ammeter, and then down to the battery. Sounds like your generator is chargin' like crazy, and it's putting out a mean field from the main power wire to your ammeter and main 12 volt bus. Is the ammeter pegging out, or swinging quite a ways over toward charge when you are at high power?????
