The latest in the generator saga... brought it into a fellow that's been doing auto electrics for over 40 years and he tested it and said my field was bad and for $40 will replace the field windings, the brushes, the bearings, and clean the commutator. He'll also check it to the voltage regulator to make sure it's working fine. Apparently the field windings go bad with time and use, especially thermal expansion and contraction.
What gets me is why I took it into three other places and they all said it seemed to be working fine but on the plane it obviously wasn't.
I'll keep you all posted on what happens.
