I am a new member on the mailing list and very happy to be aboard!

Welcome to the Ranks!

I have two questions to ask. I have been reading alot about "Coupes" because I am strongly considering the purchase of one.

Could be a very wise move, if your mission is within what it can do.

The first question is: What is the "Sink" rate tendency that may occur while landing? Why does this happen? and How can it be avoided in the "Coupe"

"Sink" is just that - going down.  When you are far enough from the ground, you can be going down at a prodigious rate, but you
can't tell it.  When you get close to the ground, and see how fast you are going down, you may not be able to stop it before you
hit.  To avoid that, watch your air speed.  The Ercoupe series of airplanes gets slower quicker than others when the power (such
as it has!) is drawn back.  With practice, you'll be able to make better landings with the `coupe than just about anything else.

. Question Two: Does the "Coupe" have a decent gliding ability in case of an engine out, or does it fall out of the sky?

Whatever gliding ability an airplane may have, it is not enough!  Your best defence against such a necessity is preflight vigilence.  That
said; the trick is again to maintain airspeed.  It is better to fly any plane in (except the F-104!) than let it stall (or mush, in the `coupes
case).  IMHO, the gliding ability is sufficient.  One just has to be flying higher over less inviting terrain (water, rocky clifts, etc.).

So - where you at?  Curious Coupers want to know.
